1911

1911 $2.50 gold Indian Head, Quarter Eagle coin A NICE COIN! The Indian Head quarter and half eagle were introduced under the leadership of President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908. These coins are distinct from all other US coins in that the designs and letters are engraved into the surface of the coin. The design comes from sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt, with an American Indian brave in a feathered headdress on the obverse, and an eagle perched upon fasces and olive branch, on the reverse. Indian Head quarter eagles were minted from 1908 through 1915, and then again from 1925 through 1929. They have a diameter of 18 mm., are composed of 90% gold and 10% copper, with about .12 ounce of pure gold. A great collectible: This coin is in fair shape: both sides show signs of wear and some fine scratches. The coin is quite bright, probably cleaned or polished. It looks great to the eye, but the closeup photos show the wear. A good investment: Gold closed at just about $1065 per ounce as of the day of the listing (see http://www.amark.com/), and many expect it to rise further. I offer reduced shipping & handling for multiple purchases. Insurance is included for domestic purchases; international purchases sent by registered mail for security. Thanks for looking and bidding!
